Fred "Toppy" Rawson

Fred "Toppy" Rawson, age 92 of Fond du Lac and formerly of Red Granite and Poy Sippi died Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Hospice Home of Hope. He was born in Fond du Lac on November 5, 1916 the son of Charles W. and Francis A. Miller Rawson. On July 16, 1946 he married Marjorie E. Knoll at Poy Sippi. Marjorie preceded him in death on September 12, 1978 who was his constant companion and confidante. She was an accomplished teacher and author. Toppy was an avid farmer and sportsman, among his occupations were school bus driver, machinist, and handyman. He enjoyed hunting dogs; among his favorites was Teddy, an Airedale Terrier. He was an active member of First Lutheran Church where he served as an usher, active in Lord's Acre, building projects and Sunday school. He traveled often on auto trips to almost every state in the union. He and his wife Marjorie loved to find out of the way places, nature escapes, and out door areas. Later in life he became a volunteer driver for Waushara County achieving a 4,000-hour award. Toppy was known for his warm smile, happy demeanor, and his generosity. He enjoyed practical jokes and funny stories. He was a former member of Pine River Lodge No. 207 Free & Accepted Mason, Pine River.SURVIVORS: He is survived by a son George (Colleen) Rawson, Fond du Lac, a granddaughter Marie and her three children of California, a sister Fay Schwersinske, Wautoma, three nieces, Yvonne (Cecil)Featherstone, Judy (Ted) Bauer and Joyce (Ed) Lippert.



VISITATION: The family will receive friends on Friday, October 2, 2009 from 4:30 PM. to 6:00 PM at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church, 20 Wisconsin American Drive, Fond du Lac. FUNERAL: Memorial services will be held Friday, October 2, 2009 at 6:00 PM at the church with Reverend Shari Routh officiating. Cremation has taken place with private family inurnment at Pine River Cemetery, Pine River.Memorials appreciated to charity of ones choice or Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church.Uecker "“Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
