Frederick "Fritz" C. Dahlke, Jr. 90 of rural Waupun died Monday, December 5, 2011 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born in Pickett on June 18, 1921 the son of Frederick and Alvina Miller Dahlke. On April 24, 1948 he married Helen Bennett at Rosendale. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific in the United States Air Force. He and his brother owned and operated Dahlke Brother's Garage in Eldorado from 1947 to 1950 then in 1950 he moved to Rosendale to open his own garage Dahlke Brother's Garage from 1950 to 1970.He later worked for Fond du Lac County as a mechanic from where he retired. After retirement Frederick worked for Knaus Cheese Factory in Rogersville. Frederick and Helen owned and operated the Rogersville Tavern from 1970 to 1982.He was a member of the VFW in Rosendale and the Eldorado and Rosendale Fire Departments. He served as a deputy sheriff for Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department. He enjoyed family, friends, trap shooting, hunting, and spending time at his cabin in northern Wisconsin. Fritz enjoyed telling jokes and stories. SURVIVORS: Frederick is survived by his wife Helen Dahlke, of rural Waupun, a daughter Mary (Robert) Basler, Eldorado, three grandchildren Teresa (Shane) Schroeder, Chicago, IL, Nicole (Dan Fisher) Basler, Fond du Lac, Tony (Jessica Wegner) Basler, Milwaukee, four great-grandchildren, Augustus, Francesca, Vivienne Fisher, and Tyler Basler. He is further survived by two sisters, Ruth (Vern) Malzhan, Rush Lake and Edith Whitlock, Fond du Lac and many nieces and nephews. Frederick was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Linda, two brothers Earl, Lawrence (Margaret) Dahlke, sister-in-laws Rosalee (Arnold) Beck, LeRoy ( Margie) Bennett and a brother-in-law Dale Whitlock.
VISITATION: Friends may call on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 from 3 to 6:00 PM at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 North Park Avenue, Fond du Lac. FUNERAL: Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Diane O'Neil officiating. Burial will be in Rosendale Cemetery. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post No. 75 will conduct military graveside services Thursday. at 9:30 AM.In Lieu of flowers memorials appreciated to the Veterans Memorial at Rosendale Cemetery.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
