Frederick "Fritz" Bender

Frederick "Fritz" Bender, 87, of 193 8th Street, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at his residence. He was born November 4, 1916, in Menomonee Falls, WI, a son of Alexander and Anna Ramig Bender. On March 22, 1947, he married Lorraine Albertz in Fond du Lac. Mr. Bender was self-employed as a TV sales and service technician in the Fond du Lac area for many years. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the US Coast Guard in the South Pacific and stateside from May of 1942 to December of 1945. He was an avid bird watcher and a fan of wildlife. He had a lifelong enjoyment of the cinema and the Big Band sound.Surviving are his wife, Lorraine, three sons; Fred (Kathy) Bender, Jr., of Huntsville, AL, Herman (Barb) Bender, and Mark (Janet) Bender, all of Fond du Lac, and a daughter, Janice Stoffregan of Las Vegas, four grandsons, Shane Stoffregan, Brian, Steven, and Nathan Bender, and one granddaughter, Sarah Bender. He was a surrogate grandfather to Michelle Knaus Gruber of Fond du Lac, and was looked upon as a father to Chi and Ping Qi, of Greenfield. He is further survived by two brothers, Robert Bender of Fond du Lac, and Sam (Sharon) Bender, of Taycheedah, and three sisters, Ruth Moore of Fond du Lac, Ella Gosse of Milwaukee, and Dorothy (Frank) Peterson of Waupun. His parents, four brothers, Herman, Alex, Bud, and Benjamin, and two sisters, Marie Stahla and Betty Bender, preceded him in death.



Visitation for Mr. Frederick "Fritz" Bender will be on Monday, May 3, 2004, from 10 am to 2 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Monday, May 3, 2004, at 2 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The Rev. Ken Nabi will officiate and burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
