Frederick Herman Christ, age 80, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Harbor House Assisted Living. He was born on January 7, 1928 in Fond du Lac, the son of Herman F. and Wilhelmina "Minni" (Zinkann) Christ. Fred proudly served in the United Stated Army during World War II and the Korean War. For part of his military service, Fred was an MP assigned to guarding General Eisenhower in France. His love for his country was only surpassed by his love for his wife and family. On December 2, 1950 he married Bonnie Jean Smithers in Fond du Lac. Upon returning from the war, Fred worked at G & L and began television repair on the side. He then started his own business, Fred Christ TV Sales and Service that grew into one of the largest television repair businesses in the state. He ran the business for over thirty-five years until retiring in 1990. Fred was an active member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church for over twenty-five years and also a member at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul. He was a member of Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75, and also had been a member of the Noon Optimists and the Kiwanis Club. Fred took great pleasure in coaching his son's Little League baseball teams for five years. Fred enjoyed playing cards, golfing, boating, watching the Packers play, entertaining friends, watching the stock market, and traveling around the world with his wife, family, and friends. Fred was a loving husband, a dearly loved father and grandfather and a loyal trusted friend.SURVIVORS: his wife, Bonnie Jean of Fond du Lac, three children, Fred L. (Celeste) Christ, Lynn (Don) Gudmanson, and Susan (Rick) Block, ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, sister in law, Joan Christ, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Virginia Christ, one brother, LeRoy Christ, and one son in law, Greg Novak.
VISITATION: Friday, June 20, 2008 from 4-8 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. FUNERAL: Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with the Reverend Peter Bird officiating. Friends may call on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of services. Cremation has taken place.
