Galen W. Klinke, age 91 of 925 Michigan Avenue, North Fond du Lac, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2007 at Aurora Medical Center, Oshkosh. Galen was born on October 27, 1915 at home in North Fond du Lac the son of William F. and Anna Labojewski Klinke. He attended public schools in North Fond du Lac graduating from North Fond du Lac High School in 1933. He lettered in baseball while in high school. After graduation from high school he went to Oakland, California where he worked for 2 years. Galen entered the United States Army on July 29,1941 serving in a railroad battalion in Egypt, Libya, and Italy. He was honorably discharged on August 26, 1945. While in service he earned the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Ribbon, European-African-Middle East Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, 5 overseas service bars and one service stripe. He worked for the SOO Line Railroad for 30 years as a carman. He was a lifetime member of Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, North Fond du Lac, and the National Association of Civilian Conservation Corp. He enjoyed fishing, cribbage, and the Packers.He is survived by two sisters, Lucille Huskey, North Fond du Lac, and Lorraine Sonnenberg of Fond du Lac, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Gordon, and brother-in-lawsDavid Schneider, Marv Sonnenberg and Leonard Huskey.
VISITATION: Friends may call on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Presentation Catholic Church, North Fond du Lac. FUNERAL: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at Presentation Catholic Church, North Fond du Lac. Reverend John Simon will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery."I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done". Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
