Gary O. Winget, 79, of North Fond du Lac, died Saturday, September 8, 2018 at his residence. He was born March 4, 1939 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the son of Otto and Jean Perry Winget. On September 19, 1959 he married Helen G. Meixner at Holy Rosary Church in Lima, Wisconsin. Helen preceded him in death on April 4, 2011. Gary worked as a mechanic with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 30 years and for Saputo Cheese until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed woodworking, metal work, and fixing things. Gary was a jack of all trades and always said, “if he couldn’t fix it, it wasn’t broke”. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his four children, Darcy Algar of Madison, Kurt (Michelle) Winget of Oakfield, Jeanne (Bob) Grube of North Fond du Lac, and Lisa (Patrick) Betz of Fond du Lac; ten grandchildren, Andrea Algar, Joshua, Jason, Jennifer, and Emily Winget, Beth (Josh), Nicholas (Gretta), and Amber (Luke) Grube, Hannah and Daniel Betz; eight great grandchildren, Nevins, Tessa, Benna, Orion, Eamon, Everett, Lane, and Lief; sister, Bonnie Wolters; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 51 years, Helen; infant son, Garen Anthony; son-in-law, Doug Algar; two sisters, Donna Newton and Ginger Wodzinski; and other relatives.
The visitation will be held Friday, September 14, 2018 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow in Estabrooks Cemetery.
