Mr. Gene E. Norton, Sr, 64, of W7207 County OO, Town of Friendship, died Sunday, July 3, 2005, at Aurora, CO, while visiting relatives at the home of his brother-in-law, Richard Haag. He was born June 13, 1941, in Fond du Lac, the son of Lewis and Florence Burton Norton, Sr. On April 15, 1961, he married Jane Haag in Fond du Lac. Gene served in the US Air Force from January 17, 1961 to January 15, 1965, and was stationed at Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota. He was formerly employed at Fred Rueping Leather Company for over 20 years, and later worked at Mercury Marine for nine years until his retirement in July of 2003.Gene was a member of Eagles Aerie #270; his major love was the Green Bay Packers and bowling. He enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a lover of Studebaker automobiles, owning a 1963 Gran Turismo and a 1982 Avanti. Surviving is his wife, Jane, two sons, Gene (Connie) Norton, Jr. of Mayville, and Dwayne (Tammy) Norton of Eldorado, two daughters, Pamela (Rick) Hernandez of Eden, and Jodi (Darin) Rabideaux of Fond du Lac, 12 grandchildren, Angela (Francisco) Reyes, Erik Hernandez, Cory, Collin, Casey, and Sara Norton, Nathan Paez, Ashley, Isaac, Matthew, Jordan, and Rosa Norton, three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Abigail, and Alexis, five brothers, Lewis (Hilda) Norton, Jr. of Fond du Lac, Donald (Guillerminia) Norton of Oahu, Hawaii, Ronald (Sandy) Norton of Sheboygan, Robert (Marilyn) Norton of Dotyville, Terry (Linda) Norton of San Diego, California, eight sisters, June (Ken) Madritch of Milwaukee, Carol (Jack) Lucas of Riverside, CA, Dorothy (Special Friend Larry ) Schierland of Green Bay, Kaye (David) MacGuffin of Anderson SC, Georgia (Special Friend Jerry) Cummins of Coloma, WI, Patricia (Mike) Walters of Stevens Point, WI, Yvonne (Dave) Stainbrook of Beaver Dam, and Barbara (Special Friend, Bill) Mielke of Chicago,four brothers-in-law, Charles (Dorrie) Hewitt of Fond du Lac, Dennis (Vicki) Haag of Sheboygan, Richard Haag of Aurora, CO, and David Schneider of Redgranite, and four sisters-in-law,Geraldine (Junior) Stellmacher of Hartford, WI, Jacqueline (Special Friend Mike) Schneider of Redgranite, Carol (Richard) Kurtz of Sheboygan, and Karen (Roland) Schmidt of Fond du Lac. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends further survive him. Also surviving are his special pets; his dog, Cuddles, and his cat, Shadow. His parents, a brother-in-law, James Schierland, and a sister-in-law, Donna Edwards, preceded him in death.
Visitation for Mr. Gene E. Norton, Sr., will be on Sunday, July 10, 2005, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and on Monday, July 11, 2005, from 1 to 2 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be on Monday, July 11, 2005, at 2 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The Rev. Virginia Pych will officiate.
