Gene R. Greve, age 87, of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Hospice Home of Hope. He was born on July 6, 1929 in Loyal, WI, the son of Harry and Leona Greve. Gene served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers from 1951-53. On August 15, 1953 he married Jacqueline Strong at Church of Peace in Fond du Lac. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2016. Gene had worked at Plumber’s Supply and then received his plumber’s apprenticeship and went on to work for Duitman Plumbing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing.
Survivors include two children, Shelby McEssy of Fond du Lac, and Brian (Kris) Greve of Rosendale; four grandchildren, Ashley, Noah, and Carter Greve, and Dan McEssy; one great-grandson, Jackson; two sisters-in-law, Marge Strong of Fond du Lac, and Phyllis Strong of FL; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jacqueline; two sisters; and one brother.
Private family services were held and entombment took place at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.
