Genevieve "Gen-O" V. Hoepfner

March 14, 1925 — September 6, 2017

On September 6th, 2017 - An Earthly Angel received her Heavenly Wings!

Genevieve was born on March 14, 1925 in Green Bay, WI, she was the seventh of thirteen children born to Leo and Louise (Netols) Kwaterski. Gen-o graduated from Green Bay East High School and later joined the Women’s Army Nurse Corp, graduating from St. Agnes School of nursing in 1947. This year marked her 70th anniversary of nursing. She was known as the neighborhood nurse and always available to give advice and help when needed. While working at St. Agnes Hospital as a nurse, she met Raymond Hoepfner, the handsome guy that lived across the street. They were married on June 25, 1949 at St. Mary's of the Angels Church in Green Bay, WI. They lived their married life in Fond du Lac, together raising their fourteen children.

They were members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and currently Holy Family Parish. Gen-o was a member and officer of St. Patrick's Altar and Rosary Society which is now Holy Family St. Patrick's Rosary Guild. If you needed spiritual help, Gen-o was the one to call to get your requests on the prayer network. She also worked on many mission projects, and enjoyed helping at the St. Patrick’s/Sacred Heart rummage sales. For many years she was on the church cleaning crew. She co-chaired the pie and ice-cream booth for the St. Patrick's Parish Festivals for many years. She was a member of The Daughter's of Isabella, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxillary, and enjoyed being a part of the Red Hatters.

Gen-o had a great devotion to the Blessed Mother Mary, and always called upon St. Gerard, the patron saint of mothers and St. Anthony to find many of her children's lost items.

Mom lived her life doing "random acts of kindness" before it was a popular term. She welcomed all her children's friends providing snacks and meals as she was such a wonderful cook and baker. Holidays and birthdays were always big celebrations. Mom loved a good party and they won't be the same without her.

Gen-o is survived by her fourteen children and thirty-five grandchildren, Therese (Robert) Jackan of Appleton and their children, Jennifer, Julie (Peter) Thomas, Daniel, and Mark; Mary Jo (Raymond) Merwin of Fond du Lac and their children, Natalie, Mitchell (Lisa), and Samuel; Robert (Denise) of Fond du Lac and their children, Benjamin and Ann (Kurtz); Patricia of Fond du Lac; Charlie (Sharon) of North Fond du Lac and their children, Nicholas, Kimberly, and Jacob; Louise (John) Elsasser of Ft.
