George M. Costello

George M. Costello, 97, of Fond du Lac, died on the anniversary of his engagement to Helen, Saturday, January 13, 2024, at St. Francis Terrace. He was born on October 4, 1926, in Fond du Lac, the son of Addis and Ruth (McGalloway) Costello. On May 17, 1952, he married Helen Buechel at St. Mary’s Church, Fond du Lac. George was a farmer all his life who farmed on the family farm.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; six children, Betty (Harry) Schneider of Fond du Lac, Joe (Sherry) Costello of San Antonio, Texas, Sharon (Gary) Vaughan of Kimberly, Judy (Dave) Wollerman of Fond du Lac, Chris (Jim) Daleiden of Fond du Lac, and Teresa (Steve) Ritzinger of Chippewa Falls; three siblings, Jane (Ben) Majeska, Pete (Loretta) Costello, and Sister Ruth Mary Costello; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Addis and Ruth; son, Bill Costello; seven siblings, Mary Koenigs, Addis (Mary Lou) Costello, Doris (Chub) Busha, Ellen (Stan) Ericksen, Father Timon Costello, and Pat (Marian) Costello; mother and father-in-law; and brothers and sisters-in-law.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at St. Frances Home Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff of St. Francis Terrace and SSM Hospice team for their care and compassion for George.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in George’s name to the Hospice Home of Hope or a charity of your choice.
