George F. Batura

April 24, 1925 — September 25, 2015

George "Porky" F. Batura, 90, of Oshkosh, died Friday, September 25, 2015 at John and Conni Potratz’ home. He was born April 24, 1925 in Fond du Lac, the son of Adam and Caroline Batura. George honorably served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. On October 23, 1953 he married Marion L. Zellmer at Apostolic Christian Church in Milwaukee and she preceded him in death on April 18, 2012. George worked for the Soo Line Railroad for 40 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of Grace Christian Church and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching baseball and football. George lived for his Savior, Jesus Christ.



He is survived by, Conni (John) Potratz, who was like a daughter, and their family; nieces, nephews, other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marion; eight brothers and three sisters.



The visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Wednesday from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Pfeffer officiating. Burial will follow in Rienzi Cemetery.



In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Grace Christian Church Technology Fund in George’s name.
