George H. Burrows

George H. (G.H.) Burrows, 97, of Fond du Lac, WI, died Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Woodlands Senior Park. He was born March 28, 1919 in Fond du Lac, the son of George and Emma Stoeffel Burrows. On October 4, 1946 he married Shirley Christman in Fond du Lac, WI. She preceded him in death on July 20, 1999. George worked in Sales at Rueping Leather for over 40 years. He was highly regarded by everyone was blessed with many friends and never had a negative thing to say about anyone. George loved spending time with family and friends and always made everyone laugh. He enjoyed golf, belonging to the South Hills Country Club where he was a charter member. George served 4 ½ years in the Army, serving in WWII and the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre receiving a Bronze Battle Star, 5 Overseas Service Bars, 1 Service Stripe, and a Good Conduct Medal. He was a Beta Theta Pi while at Lawrence University. He was a member of the Elks Club over 70 years. George loved traveling, reading, and was a long time volunteer at St. Agnes Hospital where he retired at age 92.



He is survived by his three daughters, Cate (Tad) Hildenbiddle of Pawleys Island, SC, Christy (Wayne) Burrows Scheer of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Barbara (Richard) Tock of Mequon, WI; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff) Peterson of Evanston, IL, Josh Hildenbiddle of Seattle, WA, and Ali (Kyle) Vance of Arvada, CO, and one great grandson, Bennett Peterson.



He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Emma Stoeffel Burrows; his wife, Shirley Burrows; brother, Bruce (Norma) Burrows; and his in-laws, Clayton Christman and George and Mae Finnegan.



Visitation for George H. (G.H.) Burrows will be on Friday, July 8, 2016, from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 12 Noon at the funeral home. Cremation will follow. Inurnment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum.



In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Fond du Lac Area Foundation George and Shirley Burrows Fund or Agnesian Hospice Hope.
