George H. Krug

February 22, 1930 — July 11, 2008

George H. Krug, 78, of 367 Uneeda Street, passed away on July 11, 2008, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born February 22, 1930, in the Town of Empire, the son of William and Clara Broegtmann Krug. He served in the Korean War as a Radio Operator with Battery C, 65th AAA Gun Battalion from July 25, 1951 to July 16, 1953, leaving the service as a Corporal. On July 10, 1954, he married his sweetheart, Audrey B. Snyder at the Church of Peace. After leaving the service, he worked at his father's saw mill, did construction with his father-in-law, the Eden Canning Factory, Northern Casket Company, and Tecumseh Engines. For the next 38 years, he was employed with Eilertson Construction as a backhoe operator and foreman. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers and the National Benefit Fund. He was a 17-year member of American Legion Post #0347 of Lomira. George was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, gardening, growing flowers, and watching sports on TV. He also had a craft business called Baskets and Bowls where he made beautiful baskets and bowls out of wood. He also painted animals and birds on to feathers. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, his beloved children, George "Butch" (Vickie) Krug of North Fond du Lac, Rodney (Jeanne) Krug of Fond du Lac, Melvin (Judy) Krug of Brandon, and John (Keriann) Krug of Fond du Lac; two daughters, Linda (Randall) Palkovich and Renee (John) Webb, both of Fond du Lac, 22 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, whom he loved and enjoyed very much. He is further survived by a brother, Lyle (Bonnie) Krug of North Fond du Lac, two sisters, Lorraine Gantner of Eden, and Myrtle Yust of Fond du Lac, and two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Krug of Brownsville, and Audrey Krug of Campbellsport. Also surviving are three special friends and brothers-in-law, Albert, Harvey, and Orville Snyder, and his neighbors, Chris and Scott Denslow, whom he loved as family. George loved and enjoyed his family very much. His parents, three brothers, Melvin, Norvin, and Robert Krug, two brothers-in-law, Herbert Gantner and Albert Yust preceded him in death.



Visitation for Mr. George H. Krug, Sr. will be on Monday, July 14, 2008, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Tuesday, July 15th from 9 to 10:30 am at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. Jennifer C. M. Dawson of Church of Peace will officiate and burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery. George's family wishes to thank 911, First Responder, Fond du Lac Fire Department, Fond du Lac Police Department, the staff of the ICU, and the hospital Chaplin for their excellent loving care thru a very sad and trying time. Thank you for all the kind and loving passion you showed us in George's final hours. Thank you also to Pastor Jenny of Church of Peace for all the prayers and hugs to help us through our sorrow in losing George-he taught us every life has a plan-the map is in God's hand. Every day has a step, although we don't know it yet, he gave us love and was our strength. Tho he is gone, he's in God's hands, and we will always love and miss him until we meet again.
