George L. Baumhardt

George L. BaumhardtGeorge Baumhardt, 597 Kingswood Avenue, passed away September 30, 2006 at the age of 82. George was born October 11, 1923, the son of John and Viola Baumhardt. On June 12, 1946 he married Jeanette Burmeister at the Campbellsport United Church of Cluist. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary prior to her death in June of 2005.George was retired from First Wisconsin Bank. After his retirement he enjoyed many years as caretaker of St. James Cemetery and took pride in being the recipient of a 2005 Fond du Lac County beautification award that was a direct result of the time and energy he devoted to the cemetery. He looked forward to the annual Empire Thresheree and was a great ticket seller for the Eden picnic and numerous other charitable organizations. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.George enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by one son, Michael (Suzette) Baumhardt; and four daughters, Sandra (Dick) Wagner; Sharon (Chuck) Knueppel; Shirley (John) Sheridan; and Carole (David) Lubach. He has 11 grandchildren, Gabriel (Rachel) Wagner; Emily Wagner; Shane Knueppel; Chris (Laura) Knueppel; Lucas Sheridan; Anne Sheridan; Brooke Baumhardt; Nicole (Dave) Egan; Samantha Baumhardt; Angela Miller; and Craig Miller; and six great grandchildren. He is further survived by two sisters, Florence Ringhand and Irene Majerus; one sister-in-law, Sally Baumhardt; and one brother-in-law, John McCrory.He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette, his parents, one brother, John (Ike) Baumhardt and one sister Helen McCrory.George was a well-known face in the Eden area and will be missed by his family and his many friends. His family would like to thank those friends who continued to visit him after his move from the Eden area. Those visits were important to him - they kept him in touch with the community that he loved.We also send special thanks to Dr. Cepoi, Harbor Suites, Hospice Hope staff, especially Marlys, who gave him such wonderful care.In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home in Fond du Lac is handling arrangements.



Visitation: Friends may call on Tuesday from 3-7 P.M. at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home.Services: Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at 7:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the traditional services. Inurnment will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park.
