George P. Szabo, 58, of Beaver Dam, was called to heaven on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at his residence. He was born on November 12, 1957 in Budapest, Hungary to George and Elizabeth (Weigel) Szabo.
George liked to fish a lot, was a big fisherman. He enjoyed going to the casinos. He was an avid fan of all Wisconsin sports teams; the Badgers, Brewers, Bucks, but especially the Green Bay Packers. George was one of the biggest Packer enthusiasts that you could ever meet.
In the apartment complex where George lived, he was known as a very generous man; always helping his neighbors, most of whom were much older, with everything from taking out the garbage, moving furniture, carrying others groceries and removing snow from the vehicles on the cold days of winter. He especially loved his niece, Brittany, and his late nephew, Brandon. George always took an active interest in their lives. In his younger years, he and his brother, Dave, went to many concerts and sporting events.
Survivors include his brother, Dave, of Beaver Dam; his step-father, Dave L. Foster of Chesnee, South Carolina; his niece, Brittany (fiancé Nick Franke of Beaver Dam) Foster of Eau Claire; an aunt, Lona Foster, of Madrid, Spain; former sister-in-law, Laura Foster of Fond du Lac and many cousins and other relatives. George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elizabeth; nephew, Brandon Foster; uncle, Adam Weigel; maternal grandparents, Frank and Elisabeth Torok; and paternal grandparents, Glenn and Mabel Foster.
Visitation for George will be held Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at Cornerstone Funeral and Cremation Services, 125 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM. Private family burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona.
