George Raymond Stacey

George Raymond Stacey, Sr., 76 of Fond du Lac, died Monday, January 16, 2012, at his residence peacefully. He was born September 2, 1935, the son of Ted and Lillian Galow Stacey. On July 14, 1956, he married Ethel Abitz. George was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. He retired from Vulcan Manufacturing after 35 years as an iron worker. He was a member of Eagles Aerie #270. Among his many interests were fishing, playing bingo, hunting, gardening, bird watching, flowers, watching the Packers, and the enjoyment spending time with his grandchildren.Surviving is his wife, Ethel, two daughters, Linda (Larry, Sr.) Erke of North Fond du Lac, and Debra Stacey of Fond du Lac, a son, George (Mary) Stacey, Jr. of Fond du Lac, six grandchildren, Kelly (Paul) Schaefer, Larry (Special Friend Jamie Freund) Erke, Jr., Jeff (Tina) Commo, Jr., Stacey (Spencer, Sr.) Batts, and Mindy and Ashley Stacey. He is further survived by seven great-grandchildren, Brenden, Treston, Hannah, Joseph, Kasey, Amairah, and Spencer, Jr., two brothers, James Stacey and Kenneth (Donna) Stacey, both of Fond du Lac, a brother-in-law, Leroy (Shirley) Abitz, and a sister-in-law, Joyce Schwind, both of Fond du Lac. His parents preceded him in death.



Visitation for George Raymond Stacey, Sr. will be on Thursday, January 19, 2012, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Steven Huff will officiate and burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
