Gerald J. Konen

Gerald J. Konen, age 94, of Fond du Lac, died on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Woodlands Senior Park. He was born on September 20, 1926, in Fond du Lac, the son of Matt and Walburga (Freund) Konen. On October 29, 1949, Gerald married Rosemary Olig at Holy Cross Church in Mt. Calvary. She preceded him in death on June 7, 2004. Gerald and Rosemary ran the family farm for seventy years. Gerald enjoyed coaching 4-H softball, going to farm auctions, polka music, gardening, gambling trips and playing sheepshead, bowling, and playing bingo. He was a former director of the Malone Co-Op Board of Directors, member of the Knights of Columbus, Farm Bureau, and the We love to dance club.



Survivors include six children, Gerald M. (Mary) Konen, Judy (Joe) Abler, Joe (JoNell) Konen, Mark (Lynn) Konen, Dave (Jeanne) Konen, Mary Konen (special friend Steve Schaub); grandchildren, Amanda (Mike) James, Nick (Kim) Konen, Keith (Toni) Abler, Jeff (Melissa) Abler, Warren Konen, Christopher (Alicia) Konen, Carolyn (Mark) Baumgartner, Danielle (Mike) Thimmig, Amy (Scott) Whitt, Jessica (Derek) Schaefer-Frederick; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Konen; brother-in-law, Melvin (Myrtle) Olig; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rosemary; one son, Daniel; two grandchildren, Zachary and Michael Konen; brother, Robert Konen; sister and brother-in-law, Viola (John) Thomma.



A private family Mass of Christian Burial will take place. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Gerald’s life and burial will take place at a later date at St. Peter Cemetery, Malone.
