Gerald "Jerry" CardinalJerry Cardinal of Fond du Lac passed away peacefully at home unexpectedly on November 23, 2004. He was born in Fond du Lac on July 12, 1949, the son of Florian and Dorothy (Smith) Cardinal. He was employed at International Paper for 31 years and never missed a day at work. Jerry was a proud union member and officer of P.A.C.E. Local 945 while at International Paper. He also worked part-time at H.C. Prange from 1982 to 1992. He was a dedicated worker and would help anyone at a moments notice. Jerry was a veteran of the US Army, having served from 1970 to 1973. On March 16, 1974, he was married to the love of his life, Arlene Boudry, at St. Patrick's Church, by Father Edward Sippel. They were married for 30 years. His greatest joys were his three children, Kevin, Kurt, and Sara. He very much enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and his two dogs, Little Missy and Oni.He is survived by his loving wife, Arlene, his children, Kevin (Jenny Novotny), Kurt, and Sara (Justin Szatkowski) Cardinal, his sister, Margie (Phil) St. Mary and their three sons, Bob (Julie) St. Mary, Dan (Chrystal) St. Mary, and Mike St. Mary, his brothers-in-law, Bill (Linda) Boudry and Mel Meyer, his sisters-in-law, Jane (Bruce) Braun, Lori Mundt, and Renee' Boudry, ten nieces and nephews, and thirteen great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father on August 12, 1970, his mother on September 7, 1992, his father-in-law Frank Boudry on January 31, 2002, his mother-in-law, Alice (Zeleske) Boudry on March 8, 1979, his sister-in-law, Mary Meyer on March 5, 2004, a niece, nephew, and a great niece. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Visitation for Mr. Gerald "Jerry" Cardinal will be on Friday, November 26, 2004, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 27, 2004, at 10:15 am at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church. The Rev. Dennis Budka of Holy Family Parish will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Members of Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 Firing Squad will conduct graveside military honors.
