Gerald R. Norenberg, age 93, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, February 10, 2022, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born on August 24, 1928, in Lomira, WI, the son of Ernest and Frances (Johnson) Norenberg. Jerry enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War in 1947 and was recognized as a four-year veteran. He was a left-handed bowler and an avid baseball pitcher. He was a proud finish carpenter for Hutter Construction for many years. Later in life, Jerry married Betty Dreikosen. They enjoyed camping and bus trips with family and friends and Jerry documented everything with his love of photography. If you ever needed a pen, Jerry had a pocketful. He put on many miles cruising the countryside listening to country music or chatting with his coffee buddies at the Stretch. Friday nights were fish and card playing night with Patsy, Jean, and sometimes Sally.
Survivors include his sister Patsy Lefeber; three stepsons, Allen (Sandy), Patrick (Mary), John (Gail); step-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; five brothers, Earl, Eugene, Randy (Kate), Donald (Janet), and Dale (Jean); four sisters, Lorraine (Bob) Thill, Jean (Frenchy) Lafrancois, Betty Zwicky, Sally (Roger) Curtis.
Jerry’s unique personality will be missed by many.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 2-4:30 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the visitation on Thursday at the funeral home at 4:30 PM. Military honors will take place at the funeral home following the service. Private burial will take place Friday at Ledgeview Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Friends of Horicon Marsh at horiconmarsh.org. Jerry loved taking daily trips to look at the marsh.
