Geraldine "Gerrie" C. Anderson

July 5, 1924 — October 2, 2023

Fond du Lac

Geraldine “Gerrie” Catherine (Freund) Anderson, 99, passed into her Heavenly Father’s arms on Monday, October 2, 2023 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.  Geraldine was born July 5, 1924 in Jericho, Wisconsin, the daughter of William and Sylvia (Arenz) Freund.  Geraldine graduated from Goodrich High School in 1942.  She married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Anderson in Milwaukee on April 28, 1945.  They moved to Indiana for 11 years and made a final move to Fond du Lac in 1956, where she worked at the Welfare Department and later at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

Gerrie was a very social person who charmed everyone everywhere.  She enjoyed playing bridge and card games with family and friends.  Even at age 99 she played an extremely competitive game of Manipulation, often winning.  Many Friday afternoons Gerrie spent playing cards with her very close friends of 70 years, Ellie, Millie, and Shirley.  She enjoyed music and dancing and loved it when Bob played his piano and organ.  Geraldine enjoyed traveling with Bob and together they visited all 50 states and traveled extensively in Canada, Mexico, and Europe.

One of her most joyful times was attending music, sporting events, and activities of her eight grandchildren.  All of her grandchildren have fond memories of special times spent with grandma.  Gerrie was very close to her younger sister, Jean who spoiled her.  They spent happy hours together reminiscing about the “good old days”!  Gerrie also had a special bond with her niece, Colleen who loved to bring sweet treats.  She was a member of Holy Family Parish.  Geraldine and Robert were married 67 wonderful years when her husband passed away in 2012.

Gerrie is survived by her three children, Linda (Thomas) Groh of Menasha, Lori (Daniel) Resheske of Little Chute, and Larry of Boyd; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; her sister, Jean Halfman; nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Robert; sister, Leila (Al) Jene; brother-in-law, Robert Halfman.

The Anderson family is truly grateful for the excellent care provided by Dr. Sergi, Betty Xiong, and the Aurora staff, as well as St. Francis Terrace.

A private family service will be held at the St. Francis Chapel.  Entombment will be held in Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum.
