Gladys M. Birschbach

Gladys M. Birschbach, 91, died Saturday, December 10, 2016 at her home in Fond du Lac. She was born in the Town of Marshfield on August 30, 1925 to Clemens and Eleanor (Haensgen) Merten. On April 14, 1945, Gladys married Leo Birschbach at Holy Cross Church – St. Isidore the Farmer Parish in Mt. Calvary. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1979.



Gladys enjoyed bowling, card games, weekly bus trips up north and volunteering at the hospital. She was a member of Holy Cross Church – St. Isidore the Farmer Parish in Mt. Calvary as well as a member of the Christian Mothers Society. In recent years, Gladys attended Holy Family Church in Fond du Lac on a regular basis.



Survivors include her eight children; Marlene Mathwig, Carol (Ron) Entringer, Lynn

(Peggy), Dale (Arlene), Jane (Mike) Wahoske, Ruth (Gary) Schoenbeck, Mabel (Steve) Wilke and Kay (Patrick Kelly) Guelig; twenty-one grandchildren, Annette (Dan) Cleary, Lori

(Erich) Burt, Marty (Dena) Entringer, Jeremy (Anne Marie ) Birschbach, Jesse Birschbach, Jolene (Kyle) Peterman, Jocelyn (Terry) Biggs, Matt (Kourtney) Birschbach, Brandan Birschbach, Jim Wahoske, Michelle Wahoske, Rachel (Jim) Crofts, Ryan (Kristina) Haensgen, Katie Schoenbeck, Kristin Schoenbeck, Lee (Jenn) Wilke, Peter (Amy Sniadajewski)

She was preceded in death by her husband Leo; a son-in-Law, Fred Mathwig; her parents Clem and Eleanor Merten; seven brothers, Lester, Leroy, Delbert, Vernon, Willard, Harold, Albin; four sisters, Orlena (Albert) Burg, Zelda (Claude) Casper, Muriel and Glendola Merten; her mother and father-in-law, Margaret and R. Peter Birschbach; ten brothers-in-law, Ken Fritz, Albert Birschbach, Francis (Olivia) (Fran) Birschbach, Valentine (Sally) Birschbach, Walter (Antonia) Birschbach, Richard (Gladys) Birschbach, Sylvester (Marge) Birschbach, Christ Birschbach, Paul Birschbach and Ambrose (Josephine) Birschbach; a sister-in-law, Louise (Herb) Wagner; and a special friend, Leander Sabel.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 16, 2016 at Holy Cross Church - St. Isidore the Farmer Parish, 308 S. Cty. W in Mt. Calvary. Fr. Gary Wegner will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac and at church on Friday, December 16, 2016 from 9:45 AM – 10:45 AM. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.
