Gladys V. Halfman, 93, formerly of 827 Sunnyside Lane, and currently a resident of St. Francis Nursing Home, died Thursday, June 14, 2012. She was born October 31, 1918, in Oshkosh, the daughter of Clement and Sally Bechkowski Semrau. Gladys was a 1936 graduate of Fond du Lac High School. She was formerly employed as a data entry clerk by the A.C. Nielsen Company, retiring in 1983. On September 14, 1940, she married Norman C. Halfman. Surviving is her husband, Norman, two daughters, Sally (Tom) Barbeau and Susan Fryda, both of Fond du Lac, seven grandchildren, Jacklyn (Bruce) Roth of Riverside, IL, Jody (Charles) Falk of Muskego, WI, Allan (Cheryl) Freund of Fond du Lac, Anthony Freund of Fond du Lac, Angela (Michael) Kornacki of Oak Creek, WI, Michelle (Gary) Ellias of Watertown, WI, and Cindy Krejcha of Indian Trail, NC, 14 great-grandchildren, three step-children, and five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Stanley (Hilda) Semrau and Ray (Ethel) Semrau, and four sisters, Stella (Walter) Guse, Gertrude (Carl) Rady, Marie Chapin, and Irene Semrau.
Visitation for Gladys V. Halfman will be on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, from 1 to 2 PM at the St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett Street, Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 PM on Wednesday at the chapel. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment of cremated remains in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum will take place at a later date.
