Gordon H. Stettbacher, 68, of North Fond du Lac, passed away unexpectedly of heart failure, Friday, October 14, 2011, at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born January 21, 1943 in Fond du Lac, the son of Herman and Emma Maciejewski Stettbacher. On June 6, 1964 he married Carole M. Rock at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North Fond du Lac. Gordon took over the family farm at age 12 with his mother, after his father passed away. After their marriage, Gordon and Carole, with their sons continued to work the farm. Gordon took great pride in his work and loved being a farmer. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was very proud of his family. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North Fond du Lac. Gordon was presently a Supervisor for the Town of Friendship. He was a former member and president of the NFDL School Board, Fond du Lac Babe Ruth Association, NFDL Booster Club, and NFDL Boys Baseball, where he coached for many years. He was also involved in various farming organizations. Gordon enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren's school and sporting events. He also enjoyed baseball, golfing, watching the Brewers and the Packers, and fishing. Most of all he loved spending time with family and friends. On October 21, 1997, at age 54, Gordon was a thankful recipient of a kidney transplant which allowed him the gift of life and the ability to enjoy many additional years with his family.SURVIVORS: his loving wife, Carole and their four sons, John (Ann) Stettbacher, Fox Lake, and their children, Bryan, Adam and Nick, Todd (Tami) Stettbacher, and their children, Jordyn and Jack, Troy (Paula) Stettbacher, and their children, Shalome and Hayden, Scott (Sheila) Stettbacher, and their children, Lauren and Drew, all of North Fond du Lac; two sisters, Audrey Chapman, Fond du Lac, Gloria Letz, Fond du Lac; two brothers-in-law, Gordon (Linda) Rock, North Fond du Lac, Michael (Doreen) Rock, North Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and his cat, Tommy. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Gordon and Marjorie Rock; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Chapman and Tom Letz.
VISITATION: will be from 4 "“ 8 PM on Monday, October 17, 2011 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again from 9:30 "“ 11 AM on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the church. The funeral service will take place at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North Fond du Lac with Rev. Thomas Behnke officiating. Entombment will take place in the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
