Gordon R. Anderson

Gordon R. Anderson, 88, of Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Hospice Home of Hope. He was born in Fond du Lac on June 9, 1924, the son of Carl and Nelly Almquist Anderson. On May 7, 1949 he married Dorothy L. Fogle at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church. Gordon was a graduate of Fond du Lac Senior High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines with the 274th Port Company. He was employed with Giddings & Lewis for over 30 years retiring in 1985. He was an active life-long member of Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as usher, money counter and served on the church council. Gordon was a member of Fond du Lac Lodge No. 26 Free & Accepted Masons, serving in various offices. He was a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Past Master of Fond du Lac Lodge No. 140 Free & Accepted Masons and assisted with Masonic Bingo. Gordon was also a member of the Fond du Lac Eastern Star Chapter, United Commercial Travelers and the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed making clocks and wood working, assisting with youth baseball and after retirement he was an avid golfer. Gordon built an "indescribable can crusher" for family and friends. SURVIVORS: his wife, Dorothy; three sons, Rod (Jan) Anderson, Waukesha, Martin Anderson, Fond du Lac, Scott (special friend, Peggy Schaefer) Anderson, Menasha; three grandchildren, Sarah (Chris) Zeitler, Middleton, Rebecca (Chris) Boeke, Rockford, IL, Brian Anderson, Wales, WI; three great grandchildren, Keagyn and Kendall Zeitler, Greyson Boeke; two brothers-in-law, Ernest (Marilyn) Fogle, South St. Paul, MN, Alan (Barbara) Fogle, Centerville, IA; one sister-in-law, Florence Lichtenwald, Waupaca. He was preceded in death by his parents.



VISITATION: the family will receive friends on Thursday, August 23, 2012 from 3:30 "“ 5 PM at Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church. The memorial service will be held at 5 PM on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. David Pavesic officiating. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Rienzi Cemetery."Special thanks to the staff of Hospice Home of Hope for their care and compassion shown to Gordon and his family."In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Immanuel Trinity Building Fund.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
