Gordon R. Oelke, 68, of Van Dyne, died Friday, May 25, 2012 as a result of an automobile accident. He was born April 22, 1944 in Fond du Lac, the son of Harold and Agnes Weise Oelke. On October 11, 1969 he married Darlene A. Kirchberg at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lost Lake, WI. Gordon served with the U. S. Army in Korea, during the Panama Crisis, and the Vietnam War. He was ordained to the Diaconate in 1979. He drove semi truck for over 20 years currently driving for Helena Chemical Company. He was a member of Presentation Church, North Fond du Lac, the Men's Club, and the Senior Center. Gordon was a founder of the Share Program, started the Senior Golf League, and was a 4-H Leader for many years. He enjoyed baseball, golfing, music, dancing, polkas, and was a master gardener. SURVIVORS: his wife, Darlene; five children, Tammy (Scott) Streitmatter, Colgate, Nicholas Oelke, Van Dyne, Matthew (Jackie) Oelke, Campbellsport, Joshua Oelke, Van Dyne, Miracle Oelke, Brandon; nine grandchildren, Caitlin, McKenzie, Austen, Samuel, Kylar, Lillian, Canton, Owen and Clay; one brother, David (Marian) Oelke, Fond du Lac; one sister, Jean (Kevin) Beament, Virginia; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.
VISITATION: will be from 4 "“ 9 PM on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again from 9:30 "“ 11 AM on Thursday at church. The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Presentation Church, North Fond du Lac with Rev. John Simon, Rev. Dennis Van Beek, and Rev. Fred Alexander, OCD officiating. Cremation will follow the traditional services.In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family.
