Grace N. Steeno

Grace N. Steeno, 94, of 517 Luco Road, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at her residence with her four children at her bedside. She was born March 30, 1914, in Green Bay, the daughter of Edward R. and Ida C. Reiter Martell. On November 6, 1937, she married Paul W. Steeno. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1993. Mrs. Steeno was a member of Holy Family Parish-Sacred Heart Church. Grace was an accomplished bridge player, playing at the Ladies of the Elks and in several other bridge clubs. She loved the Packers and had a jersey with her name on it, which she wore while "coaching" during the games. She also followed Badger football and basketball. As a younger woman, she played golf in ladies' and couples leagues. She enjoyed baking and was known for her wonderful pies. At Sacred Heart Church, she was a member of Bible Faith Builders. Grace will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, and commitment to her faith, her family, and her friends. Grace was the loving mother to three daughters, Nancy (Daniel) Behring of Onekama, MI, Cecelia (James) Pawlowski of Loveland, CO, and Katherine (Michael) Hardgrove of Fond du Lac; a son, David (Mary) Steeno of Big Rapids, MI, thirteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She is survived by a sister, Faith Nick of Phoenix, AZ, and many dear friends. Her parents, husband, an infant daughter Susan, two sisters who were triplet sisters of Faith, Hope Mueller and Charity Villiesse and her brother Robert Martell preceded her in death.



Visitation for Mrs. Grace N. Steeno will be on Thursday, April 24, 2008, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Friday, April 25, 2008, from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Church, 232 S. Peters Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am at the church. Entombment will be at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to Agnesian Hospice Hope or Holy Family Parish. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
