Gus N. Caramanidis

February 25, 1939 — September 2, 2024

Gus N. Caramanidis, 85, of Fond du Lac died Monday, September 2, 2024 at Hospice Home of Hope. He was born in Fond du Lac, the son of Nick and Gramatiki (Huliasmano) Caramanidis. Gus graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1958. He served in the US Army as a military policeman. He was an avid hunter, shooting trap and clays, and fishing. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s activities but most of all loved teaching them to hunt. 

He is survived by two children, Khrist (Beth) Caramanidis and Sara (Peter) Schmahl; grandchildren, Nick Caramanidis, Lucas Caramanidis, Naomi Caramanidis; Phillip (Emily) Schmahl, Mitchell (fiancée, Kristy Schneider) Schmahl; great grandsons, Liam, Henry, and Owen Schmahl; brother, Alex (Winnifred) Caramanidis; sister-in-law, Ellene Caramanidis; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Mike Caramanidis and Anist Caramanidis; sisters, Helen (Howard) Klein, Mary (John) Hendricks, and Ann (George) Protogere.

The visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2024 from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The memorial service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place and burial will be in Rienzi Cemetery with military honors.
