Harland C. Snyder Sr. 88 formerly of Linden Street, Fond du Lac, died peacefully at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home on Good Friday, April 3, 2015. He was born to Luther P. and Leveda G. Green Snyder on December 24, 1926 in Fond du Lac. On February 17, 1951 he married Pearl Smith there were five children born within their marriage. They are as follows; Harland C. (Barb) Snyder, Jr. ,Fond du Lac, Pamala J. Krause (Richard Dines), Van Dyne, Deborah R. (Randy) Hein, Fond du Lac, Luther P. (Jayne) Snyder, Malone, John M. Snyder (Rose Spencer), Berlin. Harland held various jobs in the Fond du Lac area throughout his life including farmhand, Procknow Wilbert Vault Company, and Wells Manufacturing from which he retired. Before and during his retirement he was a caretaker at the Octagon House for approximately thirty years. He was a founding member of the Octagon Historical Society and the Octagon House restoration engineer. Harland was the happiest with either a paint brush or hammer and nails in his hands. He had fondness for horses, dogs and cats. He enjoyed being in the Octagon House festivities, and being in the parades or on the floats. He is further survived by one brother Orville Snyder, Neshkoro, WI three sister-in-laws, Luella Snyder, Shirley Snyder and Joyce Snyder all of the Fond du Lac area. Harland is further survived by five grandchildren; Kari Opperman, Erica Hein, Michelle Snow, Andrew Snyder and Angel Marceau, ten great-grandchildren; Nathan, Elizabeth, Tobias, Neviah, Desire, Lily, Channing, Logan, Jade, and Tyler. Also further survived by special friends; Marlene, Julie and Michael Hansen, and very special waitress from the Stretch, Carol. Harland was preceded in death by parents, eight brothers; William, Melvin, Elmer, Floyd, Luther Jr. Leon , Harvey, and Albert and two sisters, Florence (Victor) Hoerth and Audrey (George) Krug.
VISITATION: Friends may call on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. FUNERAL: Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 11:30 A.M. at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Reverend David Redman will officiate. Burial will be in Lamartine Cemetery, Town of Lamartine.
