Harland M. Gregor

Harland M. Gregor, 90, of Fond du Lac, died peacefully on Thursday April 21, 2011, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home where he had been a resident since January of 2009. He was born February 9, 1921, in Berlin, WI the son of Anton and Alma (Berger) Gregor. On September 11, 1950 he married Ruth M. Hefter at First Babtist Church in Mobile, AL. She preceded him in death on December 9, 1970. Harland served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1944 during WWII and was awarded the American Theater Service Medal and European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal. Harland loved to bowl, golf, travel Wisconsin, fishing, gardening, the Brewers, Packers, occasional trips to the casino, building things, feeding and watching the birds and chipmunks. He also loved to watch Lawrence Welk, Price is Right, football and baseball any time it was on. He especially loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren always worrying about them right up to the end. Harland retired from the Soo Line Railroad after more than 40 years of service and took great pride that he was never sick a day he worked there. He was a lifetime member of the Red Arrow Club, and a member of the Eagles, VFW, and American Legion. He had a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit which will be missed by all.SURVIVORS: five children, Deb (Rick) Johnson, Fond du Lac, Wayne (special friend, Annie) Gregor, Fond du Lac, Gerald Gregor, Fond du Lac, James (Lorie) Gregor, Fond du Lac, Geri (Lance) Lemmenes, Brandon; three step daughters, Katherine Eggers, Mary Karst, Fond du Lac, Pat Steverson, Mississippi; ten grandchildren, Derek (Stephanie) Gregor, West Bend, SFC Ryan Gregor, North Carolina; Melissa (Robert) Tasch, Shad (Kassie) Gregor, Amy (Adan) Medina, Amanda Gregor, Amber Gregor, all of Fond du Lac, 2nd Lt. Adam Lemmenes, Patrick AFB, Florida, Erica Lemmenes, Green Bay, Ali (fiance Zach Wittchow) Lemmenes, Milwaukee; eight step-grandchildren Sandra Moreno, Manitowoc; Gary M. Grainger, Red Granite; Kevin Grainger, IN; Jason (Sandra) Karst, El Derado; David (Cherie) Muskevitsch, Luling,LA; James (Shannon)Steverson, Jackson, MS; Brenda (Gerard) Hebert, LaPlace, LA; Belinda Hollins, Ridgecrest,LA;seven great-grandchildren, Braeden, Logan, Serrie, Annabelle and Kylie Gregor, Tia and Calie Tasch, Fond du Lac; two step grandchildren, Chelsey and Makena Myers;14 step-great-grandchildren Brandon Weilgosh; Matthew, Mark, and Mason Muskevitsch; Brandon, Trey, and Thorn Steverson; Justin and Jessica Hebert; Nicole, Tyneshia, and Tyrone Hollins; Jacob and Jack Jr. Karst. He is further survived by his sister, Betty Habib, Fond du Lac; niece,nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; special friend Maureen; two siblings, Lorraine and Gordon at infancy; a grandson, Jerrad Gregor.



VISITATION: will be held from 4 "“ 8 PM on Monday, April 25, 2011 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Tuesday, from 10 "“ 11 AM at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Fond du Lac Lutheran Home, Agnesian Hospice Hope, and all those who cared for him over the last years of his life.Thank you Dad for loving us unconditionally. You always worried about us and took care of us. Then it was our turn to take care of you. We love you and miss you but know you are in better hands now.
