Harold H. Schwartz of Fond du Lac died at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 26, 2014. He was 87 years old. Harold was born in Fond du Lac on February 10, 1927, the only son of Herbert and Lillian (Shamrock) Schwartz. On November 19, 1949, he married Jane Robertson at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fond du Lac.
During World War Two, Harold served in the U.S. Army, receiving the WWII Victory Medal. For the majority of his career, he was a truck driver for Winnebago Dairy, Miller Beer and MacIntyre/Badger Metals. He also held various bartending positions, worked at Scott and Main Filling Station and worked the FDL County Fair for Brickles. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards and shaking dice. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 270 in Fond du Lac.
Surviving Harold is his wife of 64 years, Jane and their nine children; Gail (Thomas) Schindelholz, Dennis (Barb) Schwartz, Linda (David) Riese, Sharon Schwartz, Keith Schwartz, Terry (Rose) Schwartz, Randy (Tina) Schwartz, Lori (David) Buskirk and Rod Schwartz, fifteen grandchildren; Terri (Pete) Vande Slunt, Keith Moon, Chris Schindelholz, Sandy (Bill) Sandlin, Michelle (special friend Troy) Schindelholz, Josh (Kristen) Riese, Nathan (Melinda) Riese, Michael Riese, Ashley (Eric) Medina, Rachel Schwartz, Ryan Schwartz, Amber Buskirk, KaLyn Schwartz, Maddisen Schwartz and Easton Schwartz. He is further survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and two sisters; Helen (Charles) Gibson and Elaine Bodoh. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret Shraven.
MEMORIAL SERVICE INFORMATION
A visitation for Harold will be held from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM, Sunday August 3, 2014 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home in Fond du Lac. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM with David Riese officiating. Military honors will be presented by American Legion Trier - Puddy Post #75. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will take place at a later date in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Agnesian Hospice Hope. A heartfelt thanks is also extended to very special friend, Debbie Dobyns.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Harold’s name.
