Harold T. Van Gorder, Sr., 67, of 426 Ellis Street, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at the Appleton Medical Center. He was born April 5, 1937, in Fond du Lac, a son of Harold and Esther Bredlau Van Gorder. On January 26, 1957, he married Ilene Pinto at the Church of Peace-United Church of Christ. Mr.Van Gorder was formerly employed by Sterling Custom Homes as a journeyman carpenter, Giddings & Lewis, and Maysteel Inc. of Allenton, from which he retired in 1999. He was a veteran of the US Army serving from May 1, 1955 to April 4, 1958. Harold was an avid fisherman and was a member of Lighthouse Anglers and Walleyes for Tomorrow. He was a former member of Eagles Aerie #270. Surviving is his wife, Ilene, three sons; Peter Van Gorder Goetz of San Diego, CA, Steven Van Gorder of Taycheedah, and Harold T. (Karyl) Van Gorder, Jr., of North Fond du Lac, two daughters, Tina (Mark) Willis of North Fond du Lac, and Barbara (Jim) Ehlenfeldt of Beaver Dam, 12 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother, David "Wimpy" (Maxine) Van Gorder of North Fond du Lac. His parents and a brother, Robert, preceded him in death.
Visitation for Harold T. Van Gorder, Sr., will be on Thursday, July 15, 2004, from 12 noon to 7:30 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 15, 2004, at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Martin Koehler will officiate and cremation will follow traditional services.
