Harriet M. Agnew
Harriet M. Agnew, 87, of Fond du Lac and formerly of Beaver Dam, died Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. She was born in Fond du Lac on January 20, 1928, a daughter of Charles and Maybelle (Richards) Klein. On October 8, 1947, she married Sylvester Agnew at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Ripon, WI. They were married 34 years before he preceded her in death on February 21, 1982.
In addition to raising her 7 children Harriet and her husband operated the family dairy farm in Beaver Dam. Harriet was employed as a seamstress for over 2 decades at Kolpin Manufacturing in Fox Lake, WI. A devoted mother to her son with special needs, Patrick, Harriet spent a majority of her life committed to his care. Harriet moved to Fond du Lac and spent time traveling with family and friends. She also enjoyed going out to dinner and collecting dolls and glassware. Harriet was an active member of the Holy Family Catholic Community.
Surviving Harriet are her 7 children, Linda (Terril) Froehlich of Princeton, WI, Elaine (Robert) Fletcher of Sun City West, AZ, Carol Enders (widow of Dennis) of Broken Arrow, OK, Edward (Susan) Agnew of Racine, WI, William (Lori) Agnew of Fond du Lac, Patrick Agnew of Fond du Lac, Judith (Randall) Pasbrig of Peyton, CO; 11 grandchildren, Jon Froehlich, Annette Griffin, Charles (Kim) Froehlich, Robert (Christina) Fletcher, John (Sara) Fletcher, Jeremy Enders, Emily Enders, Bradley (Diana) Agnew, Stefanie (Christopher) Morgan, Elizabeth (Patrick) Nerbun, Eric Agnew; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild, a sister, Eleanor Ballwanz and many nieces and nephews. Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her son-in-law, Dennis Enders; brothers, Wilbur Klein, Erv Klein, Edgar Klein, Howard Klein, George Klein, Richard Klein; and sisters, Loretta Hersey, Eunice Ballwanz, Lorraine Walgenbach, Mae Audrey Klein, and Hermina Holz.
Visitation for Harriet will take place Monday, May 11, 2015 from 12:30 PM – 4:30 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. Both a Liturgy of the Word service and committal rites will be celebrated following the visitation with Fr. Ryan Pruess presiding. Private family burial will take place on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Beaver Dam.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home and Agnesian Healthcare Hospice for their compassionate care of Harriet.
