Harry A. Jung, 87 and formerly of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at his son’s home in Milwaukee. He was born in Lodz, Poland on October 29, 1930 to Alfred and Amanda (Heimann) Jung. On July 3, 1959, he married Ruth Melcher in Fond du Lac.
Harry immigrated to the United States from Germany on May 24, 1952. Upon arrival, he moved to Randolph, WI, where he worked in farming and manufacturing. Drafted into the Army in 1953, he completed basic training at Fort Riley, KS, after which he served as a Private First Class with the 16th Regiment of the First Infantry Division stationed in Schweinfurt and Mannheim, Germany. Upon his discharge, he returned to the United States, where he worked at a number of different car dealerships in Fond du Lac, retiring from Tecumseh Products in New Holstein. Harry and Ruth raised their son, Mark, in their beautiful home in St. Peter. Sadly, Ruth passed away on February 25, 2016.
Survivors include his son, Mark (Anne Marie); and 4 sisters, Giesla Behrens, Inge Jung-Baehr, Ursula (Horst) Gerleit and Christa Schultheiss. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; parents, Alfred and Amanda; 2 brothers-in-law, Heinz Behrens and Frederick Schultheiss; and a sister, Monika Jung.
The visitation will be held from 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum. Entombment will follow.
