Harry A. Wang

Harry A. Wang, 91, a resident of St. Francis Home for the past 3-½ years, safely slid into home plate on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. He was born April 27, 1920, in Chicago, the son of Fred and Charlotte Brandt Wang. He attended and graduated from Lane Tech High School in Chicago. He joined the Chicago Cubs and was their bullpen catcher. He was a veteran of the US Army serving as a medic. On July 26, 1947, he married Lorraine Murphy at St. Patrick's Church. She preceded him in death on April 4, 1990. Coming to Fond du Lac, Harry started his own real estate business. During this time, he also played baseball for the Fond du Lac Panthers, a major league affiliate. He was a former member of South Hills Golf and Country Club and Elks Lodge #57. Harry was a member of Holy Family Parish. Surviving are three sons, Michael (Jeanne) Wang of Omaha, NE, Patrick (Geri) Wang of Fond du Lac, and David (Stacy) Wang of Phoenix, AZ, two daughters, Mary (Jack) Fisher of Fond du Lac, and Maggie (Chuck) Zettel of Philadelphia, PA, 14 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. A sister, Violet Jeffries of Kissimmee, FL, and a niece, Dale Glotzbach, further survive him. Also of Kissimmee. His parents, wife, and a sister, Margaret Schwartz, preceded him in death.



Per Harry's request, a private family service will be held at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. Deacon Larry Hughes will officiate and inurnment of cremated remains will be in Calvary Cemetery. Additional information and guest book may be found at www.ueckerwitt.com
