Helen A. "Nellie" Brockway

Helen A. Brockway, 90, of the Town of Friendship, died Sunday, October 28, 2007, at her residence. She was born June 7, 1917, in the Town of Friendship, the daughter of John & Monica Geralitas Dumbaskas. On January 7, 1939, she married Orvus O. Brockway at Presentation Church in North Fond du Lac where she was a member. He preceded her in death on November 18, 1996. Helen was formerly employed by La Resista Corset Factory and Bestt Roller. She was an avid gardener and homemaker who loved her peonies and raspberry gardens. Grandma thought the world of her two granddaughters and her seven great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing her guitar, accordion, organ, yodeling, and was proud of her Lithuanian heritage. Helen was a member and past president of the ladies auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen.Surviving is a daughter, Helene (Nick) Michels of the Town of Friendship, two granddaughters, Michelle (David) Larson and Kathy (Rick) Rashid, both of the Town of Friendship; seven great grandchildren, Marie and Kristine Reynolds, Andrew and Adam Larson, and Samie, Matt, and Ryan Rashid, all of the Town of Friendship, two sisters-in-law, Liz Dumbaskas of North Fond du Lac, and Elizabeth (Floyde) Watts of Fond du Lac, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Joe Dumbaskas and John Dux.



Visitation for Mrs. Helen A. Brockway will be on Friday, November 2, 2007, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Saturday, November 3, from 9 to 10 am at Church of The Presentation in North Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on Saturday at the church. The Rev. Edward Sippel will officiate and entombment will be in the Chapel of The Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.
