Helen Christus Scudella, 84, formerly of 16 Cardinal Court, North Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at Harbor Haven Nursing Home. She was born October 11, 1922, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Nick and Athanasia Koumendouros Pothas. On August 27, 1944, she married Louis Christus at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. He preceded her in death on June 11, 1974. She later married Geno Scudella on September 28, 1991, at St. Joseph's Church. Mrs. Scudella was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and the Philoptochos Society of the church. She was formerly employed by St. Agnes Hospital, and prior to that, worked at Wells Manufacturing.Surviving is her husband, Geno, two sons, Daniel (Grace) Christus of Aurora, CO, and Michael (Chris) Christus of Carmichael, CA, four grandchildren, a sister, Leona (Ken) Bindert, and a brother, John (Doris) Pothas, both of Fond du Lac, three step-sons, Gerry (Sandy) Scudella of Fond du Lac, Guy (Sarah) Scudella of Amherst Junction, WI, and Gavin (Chris) Scudella of Plymouth, two step-daughters, Gina Frank and Gwen (Greg) Schwantes, both of Fond du Lac. She is further survived by four sisters-in-law, Maria Christus of Sheboygan, Norma Witkowski of North Fond du Lac, Mary (Ken) Laufer of Fond du Lac, and Patricia Pothas of Fond du Lac, and three brothers-in-law, George Christus of Sheboygan, Ken (Leona) Bindert of Fond du Lac, and Robert Scudella of Eden. Further surviving is a close special friend, Larrie Mathos of Fond du Lac. Her parents, first husband, Louis, two sons, Nicholas and Thomas, an infant daughter, Mary, two brothers, Gustave and George Pothas, two sisters, Penelope Lapinski and Mary Barba, five brothers-in-law, Carl Witkowski, Robert Maurer, Harold Braatz, and Nick and Charles Christus, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Deno Sardis, her mother and father-in-law, Battista and Maria Scudella preceded her in death.
Visitation for Mrs. Helen Christus Scudella will be on Saturday, December 23, 2006, from 10 to 11 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 198 N. Macy Street, Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be at 11 am on Saturday at the church. The Rev. Peter Pappademetriou will officiate and burial will be in Rienzi Cemetery. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family. The family requests that memorials be directed to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church or to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
