Helen J. Dahlke, 85, of Waupun, died at her residence on Friday, January 27, 2017. She was born September 12, 1931, the daughter of Fred and Helen Royer Bennett. On April 24, 1948 she married Frederick C. Dahlke, Jr. in Rosendale. Helen and Frederick owned and operated Rogersville Tavern from 1970 to 1982 and later she worked for Knaus Cheese Factory in Rogersville. She enjoyed playing cards, hunting, gambling, coaching softball, spending time at the cabin in northern Wisconsin, and loved spending time with family and friends. Her quick wit and generous spirit made her one of a kind.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Robert Basler of Eldorado; three grandchildren, Teresa (Shane) Schroeder of Chicago, IL, Nicole (Dan Fisher) Basler of Fond du Lac, and Tony (Jessica Wegner) Basler of Milwaukee; seven great grandchildren, Augustus, Francesca, and Vivienne Fisher, Tyler, Peyton, and Landon Basler, and Harrison Schroeder; one sister-in-law, Ruth Malzhan of Rush Lake; and her beloved dog, Elmo; nieces, nephews, and friends that consider her “Ma”. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick; two daughters, Linda Dahlke and Mary Basler; one brother, LeRoy (Margie) Bennett; one sister, Rosalee (Arnold) Beck.
The visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rosendale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Helen’s name are appreciated to Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater.
