Helen J. Hoffman, 86, a resident in the Town of Byron, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015, at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born December 21, 1929, in Waupun, the daughter of William and Annie Kwakkel Konings. After her parents died, she was placed in the Fond du Lac Children’s Home, of which she had many fond memories. She attended Roosevelt Junior High School and later graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1947. On September 2, 1949, she married Frank L. Hoffman at Emanuel Reformed Church in Waupun. Helen was a homemaker, although she did seasonal tax work for various tax firms in the Fond du Lac area from 1970 until her retirement in 2010 at the age of 80. Helen was currently a election poll worker in the Town of Byron. She was a life member of Grace Reformed Church.
Helen is survived by five children; four sons, Daniel, Timothy, Peter, and Andrew Hoffman, a daughter, Jane Hoffman, 10 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father in 1934 and mother 1937, her husband in 2001, two sisters, Gertrude Knight and Irene Mullica, and two brothers, Alvin and Harris Konings.
Visitation for Helen J. Hoffman will be on Tuesday, December 29, 2015, from 4 to 8 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Wednesday, the 30th from 9 to 10 AM at Grace Reformed Church, 163 18th Street, Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be at 10 AM at the church. Rev. Howard Vande Guchte and Rev. Ken Kramer will officiate. Burial will follow in Byron Cemetery. A memorial in Helen’s name has been established.
