Helen J. Schmidt

Helen J. Schmidt, 74, of 154 W. Church St., Oakfield, entered into Eternal Life with our Lord on Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 19, 1931, in Oakfield, the daughter of Arthur H. and Erna H. Macheel Reklau. On August 12, 1950, she married Marvin L. Schmidt at St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakfield. He preceded her in death on October 22, 1993. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, and a former member of the VFW Post auxiliary of Oakfield. She was a graduate of Mayville High School, a loving housewife and mother, and was employed by Romort Manufacturing, of Oakfield for 15 years until retirement.Helen enjoyed doing everything with her family, attending her grandchildren's and great grandchildren's activities, sewing, and volunteered for many years driving friends and family to appointments. Helen also enjoyed playing sheepshead and bingo. Surviving are four daughters, Jeanne (David) Goehrig of Watertown, Marlene (Gary) Adelmeyer of Oakfield, Luann (Gerald) Erdmann of Johnson Creek, WI, Gail (Jon) Waltz of South Byron, three sons, William (Sherry) Schmidt of Oshkosh, Wayne (Shelley) Schmidt of Rogersville, and Jerry (Holly) Schmidt of Johnson Creek, WI, 20 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister, Vivian Smith of Oakfield, and a brother, Delore (Helen) Reklau of Indianapolis, IN. Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.



Visitation for Mrs. Helen J. Schmidt will be on Saturday, October 29, 2005, from 11 am to 2 pm at St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakfield. Funeral services will be at 2 pm at the church. The Rev. Robert Bitter will officiate and burial will be in Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield. A memorial has been established in Mrs. Schmidt's name. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
