Helen M. Gau Muehlius

Helen M. Gau Muehlius, 82, of 996 Primrose Court, died Monday, August 29, 2011, at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born January 25, 1929, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Herman and Lulu Nielsen-Larsen Winter. She was a 1946 graduate of Fond du Lac High School. On July 16, 1949, she married Joseph E. Gau at St. Mary's Church in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1985. She later married Harley Muehlius on November 27, 1998, in Lomira. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2002. Helen was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lomira. She and Harley were very active members of the Lomira Lions Club. Helen enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, playing cards, and coordinating events for her high school class reunions. Surviving are six daughters, Elizabeth (Rev. Dennis) Ball, Sr. of Sierra Madre, CA, Jane (Donald) Kohnke of Kiel, Mary Jean Gau of Waupaca, Evelyn Gau of Fond du Lac, Kathleen (Hubert) Bays of Leander, TX, and Barbara Gau Kozaczuk of West Bend, a son, Joseph D. Gau of Bear Creek, WI, 16 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her daughter-in-law, Youngock Gau of Fond du Lac. She is further survived by relatives and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a son, Donald L. Gau, Sr., and four half-brothers.



Visitation for Helen M. Gau Muehlius will be on Thursday, September 1, 2011, from 4 to 8 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and again on Friday, September 2nd, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church, 300 Church Street, Lomira, WI. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM at the church on Friday. The Rev. Kerry Wilson will officiate. Private entombment services will be held later in the day.
