Helene Sommerfeld, 85, of 471 Bischoff Street, died Sunday, February 26, 2006, at St. Agnes Hospital after a long and courageous battle with kidney disease. She was born April 8, 1920, in Sterling, CO, the daughter of Phillip and Marie Kiel Dumler. On April 6, 1946, she married Stanley Sommerfeld at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. Mrs. Sommerfeld was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. She was formerly employed by the Modern Restaurant, Infant Socks, and Wells Manufacturing. Helene enjoyed bowling, golf, playing cards on Tuesdays, rose gardening, and traveling to Arizona.Surviving is her husband, Stanley, a daughter, Sandra (Don) Schmutzler of Oak Creek, a grandson, Kyle Schmutzler, also of Oak Creek, a sister, Esther Rivers of Hill City, SD, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Her parents, three sisters, Mary,Martha and Emma and a brother, Harry, preceded her in death.
Visitation for Mrs. Helene Sommerfeld will be on Tuesday, February 28, 2006, from 3 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, from 9 to 10 am at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at 10 am at the church. Rev. Jon Cox will officiate and entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
