Herman W. "Herm" Grohskopf, Jr.

Herman W. “Herm” Grohskopf Jr, age 86, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, February 22, 2024, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison. He was born on January 24, 1938, in Sheboygan, WI, the son of Herman W. Grohskopf Sr. and Alvera (Matthies) Grohskopf. Herman served in the United States Army National Guard for several years. On November 19, 1960, he married Carol Christoplis; she preceded him in death on July 8, 1975. Herman then married Diane Bosshardt on December 8, 1978. He graduated in 1956 from Central High School in Sheboygan where he was a basketball standout. Herman shared the love of basketball with his grandsons.

He started his career with The C. Reiss Coal Company and went on to work as a project manager for Northeast Asphalt for 35 years until retirement in 1999. Herman also enjoyed a side job flipping burgers at A&W.  He enjoyed taking trips to Las Vegas, golfing, the Badgers, Brewers, and was a diehard Green Bay Packer fan and season ticket holder. Most of all Herman loved spending time with his family. 

Survivors include his wife, Diane; three children, Kevin (Philip Biebl) Grohskopf, Deneen (Robert) Mueller, Renee (Jon) Heimerman; three grandchildren, Derek (Anna) Kieckhafer, Dr. Taylor Bufton, Luke Bufton; one great-grandson, Callum Kieckhafer; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Carol; his brother and sister-in-law, Leon (Sharon) Grohskopf.

Visitation will take place on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 4:00 PM. Private family interment will take place at Lutheran Cemetery, Sheboygan, WI.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established and may be sent to the family at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home.
