Hilbert H. Kuen, age 89 of 256 Muenter Avenue, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the St. Francis Home. He was born on August 7, 1918 in Brownsville the son of Arthur and Edna Franke Kuen. On November 27, 1948 he married Elizabeth "Betty" I. Starr at Brownsville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1943-45 working on the Alcan Highway in Alaska. Hilbert worked for Tolibia Cheese Factory in maintenance for 42 years retiring in 1982. He was a member of Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church since 1948, a member of the North Fond du Lac Archery Club since 1968 and a charter member of the Fond du Lac Vintage Auto Club. He enjoyed music and wrote two songs that were published. In years past Hilbert enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling.SURVIVORS: He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Kuen, Fond du Lac, four children, Marilyn (DuWayne) Zamzow, Fond du Lac, Larry (Judy) Lechner, Fond du Lac, David (Betty) Kuen, Neenah, and Kathleen (Robert) Seymer, Friendship. He is further survived by ten grandchildren, Vicki (Terry) Schneider, Susan (Steve) Koepsell, Christine (Josh) Jopling, Christopher (Barb) Lechner, Tony (Lisa) Lechner, Greg (Amy Haima) Lechner, Adam and Austin Seymer, Ann and Reid Kuen, fourteen great-grandchildren, three brothers, Roger (Carol) Kuen, Menomonee Falls, Norman (Eunice) Kuen, Mayville, Merlin (Arlene) Zimmel, Mayville, sister-in-law, Lucille Kuen, Brownsville, and a brother in law, Clem Peters, Highwood, IL, nieces and nephews. Close friends Roger and Sylvia Haase, Oshkosh. Proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
VISITATION: Friends may call on Thursday, January 24, 2008 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. FUNERAL: Funeral services will be held Friday, January 25, 2008 at 1:30 P.M. at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church, 40 East Division Street. Reverend Alan Schaffmeyer will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 12:30 P.M. until the time of services.In Lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund or Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
