Hilda A. Shepro, 105, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014 at the St. Francis Nursing Home in Fond du Lac. She was born in Mt. Calvary on June 28, 1908, the daughter of John and Johanna (Rieder) Abler. Hilda attended Holy Cross Catholic School. On June 1, 1935, she married Carlyle "Red" Shepro at Holy Cross Church in Mt. Calvary. Hilda will be remembered for being a loving mother, a great cook and an accomplished pianist. In addition to her love of music, Hilda also enjoyed playing cards. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, active in the Altar Society at St. Mary's, the Grandmothers Club, was also a member of the Knights Of Columbus Auxiliary, a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters for over half a century, and lastly was a member of the Red Arrow Club (32nd Division). Hilda is survived by her daughter, Joanne Kahl of Waupun, four grandchildren; Julie Kahl of Oshkosh, Bill (Sandy) Kahl of Appleton, Carolyn (Larry) Dwyer of Essex, Vermont and Tom (special friend Megan Sheridan) Kahl of Fond du Lac, three great-grandchildren; Jennifer and Andrew Kahl of Appleton and Jackson Dwyer of Essex, Vermont. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her son-in-law, Arnold Kahl, and seven siblings; Edwin, Leander, Clem, Gilbert, Gregor, Lorraine Huberty and Joan Christ.
A visitation for Hilda will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 9-11 A.M. at Holy Family Church, 271 4th St. Way in Fond du Lac. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. Tuesday, following the visitation. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
