Hildegard Smet Neubauer Hildegard Smet Neubauer, 82, a resident of 597 Kingswood Ave. died Friday, December 17, 2004 at her residence. Hildegard was born April 30, 1922 in Bauthen, Germany, a daughter of Hermann and Anna Schimanntowski Bein. On January 29, 1949 she married Roland J. Smet. He preceded her in death in October of 1976. On January 4, 1984 she married Ferdinand Neubauer. He preceded her in death in April of 1985. Hildegard farmed with her husband all of her married life. During her childhood she moved throughout Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Denmark because of the war. In 1940 she was drafted into the German Army for six months. She was a member of Our Risen Savior (formerly) St. John's Church in Woodhull since 1954 and was a former member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, being outdoors, and gardening. Survivors include five children; Michael (Linda) Smet of St. Peter, Mary Ann (Neal) Salter of Fond du Lac, Dr. Irma "Casey" Smet of Port Barrington, IL, Richard DeSmet of Oshkosh, Joseph (Joan) Smet of Fond du Lac, three step-children; James (Sandra) Smet of Fond du Lac, Joan Smet Marcelja of Las Vegas, NV, Eugene Smet of Fond du Lac, 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and five sisters; Elfrieda (Willi) Melchert of Fond du Lac, Erika Altmann of Kaukauna, Annielise (Ernst) Zimmermann of Bremen, Germany, Edith Eichhorn of Bremen, Germany, and Gerda (Gordon) Montey of Ripon. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one sister and one brother.
Visitation for Mrs. Hildegard Smet Neubauer will be held on Monday, December 21, 2004 from 4-8 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and on Tuesday, December 21 from 9-10 A.M. at Our Risen Savior Church in Woodhull. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at Our Risen Savior Church in Woodhull at 10:00 A.M. with the Rev. John Simon officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
