Howard Bahr, age 101, of Fond du Lac, died Monday, March 1, 2021, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. He was born on January 14, 1920, in Fond du Lac, the son of Herman and Caroline (Thurk) Bahr. Howard served in the United States Army in World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 8092 in Oakfield since 1955 where he served as Chaplain for two years. On July 8, 1943, he married Marguerite Zitlow in Fond du Lac. She preceded him in death on October 24, 2012. Howard worked for thirty years at Mercury until retiring in 1985. He enjoyed gardening and bowling and was in dartball league.
Survivors include three daughters, Rita Jean (John) Foley, Connie Marie Tomlin, Judith Ann (David) Wenzel; three grandchildren, Tammy Lynn Wenzel, Cindy Marie (John) Patey, Jeffrey Howard Tomlin; two great-granddaughters, Brittany and Ally; one sister, Betty Jean Bickford; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marguerite; one infant son, Norman Howard; one brother; three sisters.
Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at Estabrooks Cemetery.
