Hubert J. "Hub" Mueller

Hubert J. (Hub) Mueller, 89, of Fond du Lac, met the Lord on Monday, June 14, 2010, at his home with his wife and family, while under the loving care of Agnesian Hospice Hope. Hub was born in North Fond du Lac on March 18, 1921, to John and Frances (Pipp) Mueller. He graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1939. He served with the Army Air Corps in the European Theater during WWII. On July 20, 1946, he married Mary Anne Reichard at St. Anne's Church in Milwaukee, and they made their home in Fond du Lac, where they raised four children. He managed the Fond du Lac Steam Laundry for 20 years before joining Gilman and Matthew Real Estate, where he worked for many years. He then opened Hub Mueller Real Estate, which he operated until his retirement in the mid 80's. Hub and Mary Anne were lifelong members of St. Patrick's Church. He was a member and officer of the Holy Name Society and a member of the Board of Directors of the Knights of Columbus. He belonged to the Elks Club, the American Legion, and the Fond du Lac Jaycee's. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, and especially playing golf, which he did into his early 80's. His sense of humor was well known and he loved to entertain others with his jokes (which were oft repeated!), especially at get togethers of the '5th Friday Group' of old high school friends and their spouses. In retirement, he shared his talent for woodworking and crafting with family and friends, who will treasure his creations for many years to come. Hub is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, Mary Anne; daughters, Dianne (Hans) Mueller of Eagle River WI, Barbara Louis of North Brunswick, NJ, and Mary Kay Coyne of Minocqua, WI, and son, Edward, of Fond du Lac; grandchildren, Joshua and Justin Louis, Daniel and Marianne Coyne, and Anthony and Benjamin Mueller; step grandchildren, John (Linda) Mueller and Jennifer (David) Carroll, and step great granddaughters, Samantha and Hannah Mueller. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Mueller, brothers, Charles, Fred, John, Clem, and Rudy, and sister, Sr. Helen Mueller, CSA. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 21, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish-Sacred Heart Church in Fond du Lac. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial and military rites will be conducted at Calvary Cemetery. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
