Iris L. Purcell, 84, of Fond du Lac, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at her residence. She was born May 7, 1930 in Orange County, CA, the daughter of B. Cecil and Francis (Levering) Wilson. On May 4, 1952, Iris married the love of her life, James E. Purcell, at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, NV. They enjoyed forty-five years of marriage until Jim, better known as “Gentlemen Jim”, passed away on August 18, 1997.
Iris was partner to a long, loving and committed relationship to her husband. To Jim, Iris was known as “Squirrel”. She was a loving mother to her four children. She was also a very special “Grandmama” to three of her great-grandchildren; Clayton, Olivia and Lilliana. Iris was the last of her generation; she was preceded in death by her two brothers. She also enjoyed a long membership to the American Legion; generations of her family have served their country in World Wars I & II, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq.
Survivors include her four children; James (Sheila) of California, Thomas (Denise) of Colorado, David (Charlotte) of South Dakota and Carol “Cari” Mueller of Fond du Lac, WI, eleven grandchildren; Chris (Yuka) Rieser, Jennifer (Chris) Fulkerson, Jessica (Jacob) Greenberg, Joshua Reza, Amy Reza, Michael (Veronica) Reza, Mark Mueller, Keith (Daisha) Purcell, Donny Mueller (significant other Harley Rose), Kevin Purcell (significant other Talaya), Kaitlyn Purcell, twenty-four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Iris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Justen C. Purcell, and two brothers; Cecil and Charles.
FUNERAL INFORMATION
A visitation for Iris will be held from 3:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 P.M. with Rev. Jack Harrison officiating. Cremation will follow the services and a private family burial will take place at a later date in Redfield, SD.
