Irma M. Schaad, 89, of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Woodlands Senior Park surrounded by her family. She was born July 4, 1925 in Nasbro, WI, the daughter of Erwin and Marie Sericati Bauer. On June 7, 1947 she married Thomas R. Schaad at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2002. Irma was a member of Holy Family Parish and St. Mary’s Altar Society and bereavement committee. She was employed at H.C. Prange Co. and Younkers for over 22 years, retiring in 1994. She enjoyed cleaning, using her wringer washer, cooking, shopping, going to church and spending time with her family. She especially loved to bake, making care packages for almost everyone she knew.
She is survived by three daughters, Carol (Dave) Sanderson of Safety Harbor, FL, Mary Schaad, Ph.D. of Philadelphia, PA, and Julie (John) Walters of Fond du Lac; one son, David (Renata) Schaad, Ph.D. of Chicago, IL; daughter-in-law, Joan Schaad of Fond du Lac; seven grandchildren, Patrick Nehls, Nick Sanderson, Karl (Erica) Schaad, Thomas (fiancée, Amanda) Schaad, Katie (Ben) Thelen, Tommy Walters, and Sophie Schaad; nine great grandchildren, Mike and Matt Nehls, Liliana, Zoe and Cole Schaad, Michael Thelen, Maddie and Josie Schaad, and Isabella Sanderson; one great great grandchild, Nylah Nehls. She is further survived by one brother, Victor (Gloria) Bauer of Oshkosh; one foster brother, Lee Hillebrand; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas; one son, Daniel Schaad; one brother, Erwin Bauer; sisters-in-law, Mary Bauer, Jane Wehrenberg, Molly Treleven and Virginia Blattner; foster mother, Rosella Hillebrand; foster brother, Roger Anderson; and special friend, Theresa Wolk.
The visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. There will be no visitation on Saturday at church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at St. Mary’s Church, Holy Family Parish, 93 Marquette Street, Fond du Lac. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Michael Sergi, the staff at Woodlands on Lynn Avenue and Agnesian Hospice for the loving care given to Irma and her family.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Mary Springs Academy music scholarship established in her son Daniel’s name.
