Irving H. Guell, 89, died on February 8, 2015 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Irving was born in Fond du Lac on September 11, 1925 the oldest son of Irving and Josephine (Schmidt) Guell.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for the duration of World War II. Because of his love for fishing, he was called “Bluegill” by his many friends. He also enjoyed growing tomatoes, playing cribbage, watching NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers. He was a member of Eagles Aerie 270 for 24 years and was also a member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife Rose, his son Michael (Linda) Guell, his daughters Karen (Geno) Price and Julie (Herman) Basuki, his brothers Bob (Joan) Guell, Kenneth Guell and Jerry (Julie) Guell, his sisters Dolores Treleven, Marilyn (Charles) Stewart and Joan (Steve) Speil, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two stepchildren, Lori Stafford (special friend Rick) and Paul (Judy) Canfield. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Irene Guell, his parents and son, David.
A visitation for Irving will be held Friday, February 13, 2015 from 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM at the Chapel of the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, N6250 County Road K in Fond du Lac. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM. Inurnment will take place in the Veterans Wall of Valor in the Mausoleum. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Irving’s name.
